The liminality of border zones creates “gray” zones where international protection mechanisms often fail to protect fundamental rights. We see these spaces in the Mediterranean, along the U.S.-Mexico border, along the border between North and South Korea, and now in Eastern Europe. These spaces are securitized, but also intentionally made more dangerous to thwart movement. This vulnerability often goes hand-in-hand with irregular and/or weak nationality status. People who are stateless or who hold nationality from a politically weak state lack the opportunities for movement and rights protection that people with “powerful passports” enjoy. The international system counts on state governments to be the “duty bearers” of human rights, but that builds fundamental weaknesses into border security and the global human rights regime.

Marta vive in provincia di Torino ed è sempre stata molto appassionata di lingue e culture straniere. In triennale studia Scienze della Mediazione Linguistica a Torino e poi si trasferisce a Bologna per proseguire il percorso di Laurea Magistrale in Language, Society and Communication. Si avvicina così al mondo dell'organizzazione di eventi e della comunicazione e consegue un Master in Media Relations e Comunicazione Digitale.
Durante gli studi svolge esperienze formative e di stage all'estero, in particolare in Irlanda, Stati Uniti e Spagna e scrive una tesi sull'organizzazione e la comunicazione di eventi sportivi motoristici.
Nel tempo libero le piace praticare sport come il running ed il nuoto. Inoltre le piace ascoltare musica e viaggiare. In Mondo Internazionale ricopre la carica di Referente Eventi di Mondo Internazionale Academy.
