Who can afford the ecological transition? That is a question that often remains in the background of public debate.
Chiara Bianco, director of Mondo Internazionale G.E.O., explored this topic during the "Abitare in Classe A" forum, organized by Legambiente Piemonte e Valle d'Aosta, where a key point emerged: environmental sustainability and social sustainability must go hand in hand.
According to the speakers, energy efficiency improvements in buildings can help reduce consumption and costs, but without adequate support policies, the most vulnerable groups risk being excluded from the benefits of the transition.
Among the topics addressed: energy welfare, energy poverty as a multidimensional phenomenon, and the need for inclusive participatory processes and innovative financial tools to support energy renovation. All these themes show how the ecological transition is also a matter of equity.
