Mondo Internazionale Post at the Italian Senate for the Meeting “Learning and Teaching in the Age of Social Media”

On 19 March 2026, Mondo Internazionale Post took part in the meeting “Learning and Teaching in the Age of Social Media,” promoted by the Parliamentary Intergroup “EducAzione Social” and held at the Aula Convegni of Palazzo Carpegna in the Senate of the Republic. Invited by Senator Barbara Floridia, Deputy Managing Editor Chiara Merlin delivered a youth‑focused contribution on behalf of the organization, which brings together over 200 young people from across Italy and Europe committed to producing neutral, objective, and bias‑free information.

In her speech, Merlin highlighted the challenges of today’s digital ecosystem, where fake news spreads rapidly and platform algorithms often amplify emotional and polarizing content. She illustrated the daily work of Mondo Internazionale Post in promoting rigorous, data‑driven geopolitical analysis and emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to media and information literacy involving institutions, schools, and families.

Addressing policymakers and adults, she shared three key recommendations: valuing the contribution of younger generations, investing in human potential within schools and universities, and resisting oversimplified narratives that weaken public debate. Her intervention reaffirmed the central role of young people in building a more informed, critical, and responsible digital environment.
