Luana Foti

Luana Foti is a Staff Writer for Mondo Internazionale Post, contributing to the Framing the World thematic area.

Born in a small town in the province of Reggio Calabria, she has lived in Italy, Spain, Argentina, and Greece. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political, Social and International Sciences from the University of Bologna, where she wrote her thesis entitled “The Catalan Independence Movement: The Politicization of the Centre–Periphery Divide.”

Her passion for the Iberian country led her to move to Madrid to pursue a Master’s degree in Governance and Human Rights, which she completed with a final dissertation entitled “Politics, the Media, and People: An Unequal Exchange?” During this time, she also took part in a valuable educational project, visiting high schools to discuss human rights with students in Madrid.

She also studied investigative journalism at the Lelio Basso Foundation in Rome and worked as an editor for the Italian and Spanish-language Latin American desks of Vatican Radio–Vatican News.

Worlds that may seem diametrically opposed continue to intertwine throughout her personal and professional development, fuelling her relentless curiosity about all that life is and all that it could become—or become otherwise. Her main interests include international politics, organised crime, disinformation, human rights, conflict resolution, energy, theatre, and audiovisual production.
