Sarah Azzurra Spada

Sarah Azzurra Spada lives in London but is originally from Lake Como. She is an author at Mondo Internazionale’s Economy and Innovation Desk. She holds an MSc from the London School of Economics, where she specialized in the political economy of China and

Middle Eastern geopolitics. Her two main interests are understanding how technology and innovation reshape power relations (from the race for chips to sustainable technologies and the hydrogen economy) and exploring postcolonial and imperial legacies in the

relationships between the West and the Orient, a theme she further explored through fieldwork in Palestine. Her BA thesis examined British financial interests in the imperial project in Egypt, while her MA thesis analyzed the influence of Orientalism on British foreign policy toward the MENA region during the Arab Spring.

A fan of Edward Said, sheenjoys film, reading, and travel in her free time.
