On 11 June 2026, Chiara Merlin, member of the Steering Committee and Deputy Director of Mondo Internazionale Post, participated in the evening organized by the Embassy of Mexico for the kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on how cooperation between States is not limited to traditional political channels, but finds a universal language in sports.
Sports diplomacy shows us that shared passion fosters intercultural dialogue and strengthens strategic partnerships. Sport is never merely competition: it is a powerful catalyst for values, capable of uniting people and facilitating understandings that extend far beyond the playing field.
Mondo Internazionale APS's participation in this kind of event reflects our Association's commitment to every form of diplomacy, including the less conventional ones, which can be just as effective in promoting international cooperation.
