Alvise Cecchetti

Alvise graduated in Language Culture and Society of Asia and Mediterranean Africa from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, focusing on Arabic and Persian languages and cultures. Afterwards, he enrolled for a Research MA in Middle Eastern Studies at Leiden University, where he studied international relations and political history of the MENA area, developing a thesis on the impact of politics on cultural policies and archaeology in Iran, analyzing within this frame also the role played by Italian archaeological missions.

Alvise’s passion for the Middle East made him travelling extensively to the region, where thanks to language courses and cultural projects he could truly get in contact with the local dimension and  improve his knowledge of the area. These experiences strengthened his mental flexibility, making him feel confident in international environments, improving his adaptability to work and communicate with people from different backgrounds.

His research interests include cultural policies, cultural soft power and the impact of nationalism on culture and language. However, he also has a long lasting passion for  languages (that he often has studied also by himself), which led him to be a translator for Mondo Internazionale Post since 2022. Currently, Alvise is the Supervisor of Translation for the Post division.
