Francesco Baronio

Francesco Baronio, born in Brescia in 1998, holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies at the University of Trento and a Master’s degree in International Security at the University of Groningen. He has also worked as Researcher at Finabel, the European Army Interoperability Centre, based in Brussels.


Over time, he has developed a strong interest in issues related to European defence and security. He wrote his Bachelor’s thesis on the prospects of integration of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). After that, he has written several research papers on topics that include the European defence industrial landscape, defence and security outsourcing to private actors in the framework of CSDP missions and operations, and EU defence initiatives.


Besides European defence and security, Francesco has relevant knowledge and experience of matters that range from International Relations theory, International Security Studies. security and governance in the Arctic, state balancing and International Humanitarian Law.

Francesco joined Mondo Internazionale as a Senior Researcher for the Security and Defence area of the G.E.O. division.
