Simona Chiesa

Simona Chiesa is an MSc student in European and International Policies at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. Throughout the Erasmus+ program, Simona has gained significant international experience, during which she earned a Certificate in Political Studies from Sciences Po Toulouse. Her academic background in Political Science has allowed her to develop the ability to observe and analyze various historical, economic, legal, and socio-political disciplines in their complexity.

Alongside her studies, she has done many years of volunteering for NGOs, particularly within V.I.S.P.E. This path led to a humanitarian mission in Mutoyi, Burundi, where she experienced firsthand the importance of geostrategic analysis combined with a socio-anthropological approach. During these three months, she also worked on her thesis, focusing on the case of Pierre Nkurunziza, the former President of Burundi. Furthermore, this experience allowed her both to develop fieldwork practical skills and to understand the importance of cultural sensitivity and internal community dynamics.

At Mondo Internazionale G.E.O., she holds the position of Junior Researcher within the Culture & Society team.
