On 16 July, the conference “Italian Foreign Policy between Atlanticism and Cultural Diplomacy in the African Continent” was held at the Sala Matteotti – Palazzo Theodoli of the Chamber of Deputies. The event, organized by Minter Group, Mondo Internazionale APS and Associazione I Sud del Mondo ETS, brought together institutional representatives and experts to discuss the role of cultural diplomacy and international relations in Africa.
Mondo Internazionale APS contributed with an intervention focused on cultural diplomacy as a tool for crisis prevention and for fostering economic and social development across the African continent. Speakers included the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Giorgio Silli; the Minister Counsellor and Delegate of the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire, Virgile N’Cho Akiapo; the President of I Sud del Mondo, Pompeo Torchia; the Scientific Coordinator of the Project for Associazione I Sud del Mondo ETS, Giuseppe Galati; and Ludovica Chiappini, Head Researcher of Mondo Internazionale GEO. The event was moderated by Raffaele Barberio.
During the conference, Mondo Internazionale APS and researcher Ludovica Chiappini presented the analysis developed within the Ubuntu Project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The study, titled “The Cultural Diplomacy of Italian Associations Abroad as a Factor of Stabilization and Opportunity between Italy and Africa”, will soon be available on the Mondo Internazionale APS website.
